About Sunbird
Lodge
Sunbird Lodge, an eco-friendly luxury lodge is located in the Great Rift Valley, one of the natural wonders of the world. We are less than 127 km (1 ½ hours) from Nairobi and a few minutes off the new and superb Nairobi – Nakuru highway on a very good, private access road at the shore of Lake Elementaita (RAMSAR Site – Convention of Wetlands of International Importance and declared as UNESCO World Heritage Site) and overlooking the vast, unspoilt plains.
Located on private land there are no park or conservation fees in addition to our very competitive rates. On excellent roads it is only 20 minutes to the famous Nakuru National Park, approx. 30 minutes from Lake Naivasha and approx. 45 minutes from Hells Gate National Park.
Activities
Sitting next to a RAMSAR sanctuary Sunbird is one of the most amazing places to view dozens of different birds, many seen right from your veranda and the lodge’s outdoor restaurant.
A game drive within the Soysambu Wildlife Conservancy. Utterly pristine and hauntingly beautiful, Soysambu is one of only a handful of private conservancies in Kenya. The Conservancy not only features rolling plains and a substantial part of one of Kenya’s most beautiful soda lakes – with it’s attendant cast of pelicans, commorants, waders and storks but also shelters large herds of buffalo. Within the acacia thickets graze the rare Rothschild’s giraffe, and across the plains bound an ever-shifting kaleidoscope of plain’s game.
Sunbird hosts a wonderful pool complete with amazing views of Lake Elementaita and a swimup bar with a plethora of local and international drink options to enjoy
